Velocity Micro is a privately held computer manufacturer located in Richmond, VA (USA). They specialize in custom high-end computers. The roots of the company extend back to 1992 when Randy Copeland, an entrepreneur and techie, saw the need for high-end custom computer systems. Velocity Micro was launched in 1997.
In August 2005, Velocity Micro began offering pre-configured, high performance desktop solutions in select Best Buy stores across the country, followed by BestBuy.com in September.
In September 2006, Velocity Micro started offering the NoteMagix L80x Ultra in a limited number of Best Buy stores.

Velocity Micro is increasingly being recognized among technology industry press. Since their first review in 2002, Velocity Micro has won over 30 Editors’ Choice Awards from information leaders including Cnet, PC Magazine, and PC Gamer, to name a few. A quote from a 2002 review by MaximumPC describes Velocity Micro as providing “the kind of care and craftsmanship the behemoth manufacturers can’t offer,” which is the strategy under which Velocity Micro operates.
