Vecchietta

Francesco di Giorgio e di Lorenzo (c.1410 (or 1412) - June 6, 1480), better known as Vecchietta or Lorenzo di Pietro, was a Sienese School painter, sculptor, goldsmith and architect. A pupil of Sassetta, he assisted the Florentine Masolino in frescoes for Castiglione D'Olona. He returned to Siena to paint a fresco of The Vision of Santa Sorore (1441) for the Ospedale di Santa Maria della Scala along with Domenico di Bartolo (1403-1445) and Pietro di Giovanni d'Ambrogio. he also worked ins the Cathedral of Pienza for the Piccolimino Pope Pius II.
He was noted for his sculpture in polychrome wood and bronze.
