Vauxhall is an Auckland suburb.

It gets its name from the Vauxhall Gardens in London. These had been a very fashionable place of entertainment during the latter part of the 18th century, but they had closed by the middle of the 19th century. Presumably the name still had an aura about it when this suburb was named in the 1880s.
