Vathana Sann became a member of [SEAG] network since 2000 during his first visit in Goettingen, Germany.

Born and grew up in Cambodia in 1981, Vathana received his BSc in Animal Science from Royal University of Agriculture, Cambodia in 2002 and MSc in Tropical Agriculture from Georg-August-University Goettingen in 2003 funded by DAAD.

He has begun his career in 2002 as a junior lecturer and assistant of the Dean of Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine where he graduated his first degree. He have conducted numerous research projects both for academic purpose and for faculty interest. He supervised MSc and BSc students in implementing the research and writing the thesis. As an assistant to the Dean, he have worked closely with the international community in the framework of network cooperation and therefore, have developed contacts with researchers and other community.

Recently, he travelled to Thailand as part of DAAD Trilateral Partnership Programme. Before he left Cambodia for Germany, in August 2005, he was an organiser of the 5th SEAG Annual Meeting. In November, 2005, he expects to graduate with PhD promotion specialised in Tropical Animal Nutrition from Georg-August-University Goettingen funded by Daimler-Benz Stiftung.

Vathana Sann is the author of dozen of articles and lecture notes in Khmer and English. They are deal with the utilisation of local feed resource in animal feeding of smallholder and its integration in farming system approach.
