Varun Gandhi (born March 13, 1980) is the only son of the late Sanjay Gandhi and Maneka Gandhi.

Formerly a student of law and economics at the London School of Economics,he then completed his Masters from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.

He is currently a member of the BJP National executive and one of the main political campaigners of the party. He is seen by some to be the Youth face of the party and to be a potential leader in the future.

Varun has written widely on issues of National security and external affairs. In 2000, Varun published a critically acclaimed[citation needed] book of poetry titled "The Otherness of Self" co-written with Rohan Thomas, an Indian writer and poet residing in New York City, with accompanying illustrations by the Indian artist M.F. Husain. He has also written for the [RSS][1] mouthpiece the Organiser [2]

He is tipped to contest the prestigious by-election from the Vidisha Parliamentary constituency in the central indian state of Madhya Pradesh and to lead the BJP's campaign in the elections of the crucial northern indian state of Uttar Pradesh[citation needed].

Recent media reports suggested that he would be inducted as BJP General Secretary by the end of the year. He has denied all such claims.
