Varjak Paw (2007) is a film based upon the book Varjak Paw and is aimed at a release for next year.

Varjak Paw, the Mesopotamian Blue, is bored of his life in the boring house with his large family. No one seems to treat him as an equal and only his grandfather, who tells him stories of the great Jalal, ever defends him. One day the owner of the house, an old woman, dies. A strange man with two suspicious black cats then comes into the house. The cats are forever watching and forever restricting the Mesopotamian family. So Varjak, curious to know the truth, talks to his grandfather who tells him to seek help from the outside and to learn the ancient Way of Jalal, a form of magical martial arts.
