Variome is the whole set of variation found in populations of species that have gone through a relatively short evolution change. For example, a human population diverged 10,000 years ago will have variations that are small in number. A project proposed in May 2006, the Human Variome Project (HVP), is an attempt to "identify and record all human variation relevant to common and rare genetic disorders, and drug side effects."

Variome in practice can be the sum of SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms)

Variomics is the bioinformatic study of variome.
