Vari (or Várê, Greek: Βάρη) is a suburban community in the southwestern part of the Mesogeia plain and the southeast shoulder of the Hymettus mountain, another mountain dominates to the southeast. Distance from Voula and Varkiza is 2 km each along with the blue beaches, and 4 km west of Agia Marina, and other communities of the southern suburbs. It serves access to the eastern suburbs and Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport. Vari is locally known for its many taverns, the "Vlahika". A soccer field is situated in the southeast which is home to Aris FC and a military base facing west to east and south to north is about 2 km north. The ancient demos of Anagyrous was situated here.
A road in 2002 linking north of Vari, south of Voula and Koropi began construction to expand to two lanes. In 2004, unofficially GR-85 from Voula to Koropi now has two lanes running southwest to northeast which access to Attiki Odos and Eleftherios Venizelos Airport which opened earlier in 2001.
The floods of November 24 and 25 of 2005 ruined properties and damages some homes and businesses especially near a stream which was later blanket by road and ruined and became muddy. Properties were built in the 1980s and the 1990s and a road was over the stream before regulations against building properties and making streets over and 100 m within a stream to be disallowed. The street retransformed into a small stream again and ruined.
