Varhadi : As is the case of every main language, Main Marathi too has variants and offshoots. It is a established belief that the language differs in pronunciations, words, phrases perculiar to that region after every 12 miles yet maintaining the original structure of the main language.[citation needed] As for Varhadi, which also is referred to as 'Vaidarbhiya' Marathi is spoken in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. In historical view the roots go back the 12th century Mahanubhav Cult of which Swami chakradhar was profounder so far as written Varhadi is concerned. In modern times there are many writers who used Varhadi in their fictional poetry works either as a part of Main Marathi or in Varhadi entirely. Uddhav Shelke, Manohar Talhar Madhukar Keche Go.Ni.Dandekar and many others have instrumental in spreading the beauty and strenth of Varhadi in their fictional works. Dr Prof Viththal Wagh has been writing poems in that language since last thirty-odd years. He wrote his thesis on the research of the language. 'Varhadi Mhani'( ie Vrhadi proverbs, prases, customes)is his famous book. He popularised Varhadi in other parts of Maharashtra thru his programmes of Varhadi Poety recitals. The language is spoken in the rural area of Vidarbha and added the flavour to Marathi.
