Vanishing Point are an Australian AOR/Hard Rock/Progressive Metal band based in the Victorian capital of Melbourne.

Vanishing Point formed in the mid 1990's with Jack Lukic and Tommy Vucur previously from the band Eye. The groups debut album, 1996's In Thought was released in Europe almost a year before it received a local release in Australia through the now defunct Metal Warriors label.

In 1999 the band support legendary Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen on his Australian tour along the USA's Nevermore. Keyboardist Pep Sammartino then left the band and was replaced by Danny Olding.

In 2000 Vanishing Point headed to Germany for the prestigious Wacken Open Air heavy metal festival. Later than year the band released their 2nd album entitled Tangled In Dream to critical acclaim. The album was released in Australia by Metal Warriors with distribution through Modern Invasion Music and internationally by renowned Melodic Metal label LMP.

In late 2001 the band returned to Europe supporting Gamma Ray and Sonata Arctica on their European tour during which time Keyboardist Danny Olding provided live keyboards for Gamma Ray.

Vanishing Point then supported German Power Metal/Hard Rock band Edguy on their Australian tour after which Danny Olding resigned from the band. In 2003 the group continued on their follow up to the successful Tangled In Dream and closed the year with a performance at Australia's leading metal festival - Metal For The Brain.

During the next 12 months of the bands career Leonard Kopilas began working with the band filling the vacant keyboard slot left open by Olding although the band work be on rather involuntery hiatus. Due to label problems with Australian metal label Metal Warriors and their notoriously difficult boss Steve Ravic the group would remain relatively silent for the next 3 years.

2005 saw the band support renowned Finnish metal band Nightwish on their Australian tour and finally saw the release of their third album Embrace The Silence to huge praise. In late 2005 bassist Joe Del Mastro left the band who was subsequently replaced by ex-Teargas bassist Steve Cox.

In 2006 Vanishing Point supported the legendary Zakk Wylde with his band Black Label Society and will once again support Gamma Ray at the Melbourne leg of their Australian tour.

On the 7th of December 2006 it was announced that drummer Jack Lukic would be leaving the band to concentrate on family commitments.
