Vanessa Abrams

Vanessa Marigold Abrams (born March 1985) is a character in the Gossip Girl novels by Cecily von Ziegesar.
Vanessa is an aspiring filmmaker who wants to make it big someday. With her shaved head, and all black attire, she looks like a serious artiste. She made a documentary that won an award in Cannes. She was in Love with Dan Humphrey since she first laid eyes on him. Vanessa and Dan finally hooked up after he had gotten over his obsession with Serena van der Woodsen and opened his eyes to see Vanessa had liked him all along. Dan and Vanessa were inseparable for a while. they would walk around New York her filming and he writing poems. They day things started to fall apart was when Vanessa was walking to meet him at his house and she caught Dan's little sister Jenny, who had asked Vanessa to call her Jennifer ever since she had met her new boyfriend, and her boyfriend Nate Archibald rolling around in the snow and Jenny baring her practically naked bottom. she was going to show Dan but then realized who was in the film and kept it a secret.
The next day her sister, Ruby, had lent the camera, with the footage mind you, to a close friend of hers who had entered the footage to a website and soon enough it was all over New York. Dan had seen it and immediately knew it was her who had shot the footage. He wrote the poem "Sluts" and sent it to her. she thought it was horribly mean but amazing good at the same time and had sent it to the New Yorker where it was published in the Valentines day issue. Dan had to forgive her for that. The day it was published Dan's father, Rufus Humphrey, had gotten tons of calls from all the Ivy Leagues saying they wanted his son at their school. and Rusty Klein had even called Dan and offered to be his manager. That was when Dan has become "famous" and he met Mystery Craze who was a so-called orphan who was raised by prostitutes. they hit it off right away and that night they went to her apartment and had tantric sex. He never told Vanessa about it but she found out when Dan and Mystery had a poetry session on stage at a club and were practically having sex on the stage while the whole crowd roared. Vanessa went just to film Dan as a surprise for him, but she only got broken hearted. Her parents are a pair of hippie artists and live in Vermont, they make the strange kind of art that you see in museums but don't understand why it's there, while her sister is in the band Sugar Daddy and later goes on tour with them. She was Blair's roommate for a short time and the two became friends. Blair's personality rubs off on her to some degree: she starts to wear white and pink, begins to date Blair's stepbrother Aaron, and accepts that there is a girl inside all of us. She also cheated on Aaron by hooking up with Dan.
