Van She is a band from Sydney, Australia. Modular Recordings describes Van She as a "new band from Sydney fresh on ideas, fresher than Flavor Flav, fresh like coriander, fresher than the Fresh Prince."
Van She's music is influenced by 80’s post punk, funk and synth pop, 90’s grunge, French house, film scores, 70’s Krautrock and the latest collection of innovative artists like Tom Vek and M83, Van She takes these sounds from other genres and makes them sound unique, modern, and fresh.
It began in 2005 when band members Nick Routledge, Matt Van Schie, Michael Di Francesco, and Tomek Archer all responded to an advertisement in Sydney’s Drum Media Magazine and arrived at an audition for a rock band with influences including Sepultura, Entombed, Black Skull and Phil Collins. This chance meeting led to the creation of Van She.
In 2005 Van She released their self-titled debut LP, VAN SHE.
