Van Hunt

Van Hunt (born March 8, 1977) is an African-American R&B/neo soul singer, songwriter, and record producer. He first made a name for himself as a producer in the late-1990s, producing singles such as Dionne Farris' "Hopeless." Van Hunt released his first album, Van Hunt, on Capitol Records in 2004, which includes the singles "Seconds of Pleasure," "Dust," and "Down Here in Hell (With You)."

Hunt's second album, On the Jungle Floor, was released on April 4th, 2006. The album features the single, "Character," and the duet "Mean Sleep" with Nikka Costa. Hunt co-wrote "Mean Sleep" with Cree Summer, and her recording of the song, featuring Lenny Kravitz, appears on the 1999 album Street Faerie.

Hunt is also on Sam Moore's 2006 album "Overnight Sensational". He's on a song called "If I Had No Loot" with Nikka Costa. Hunt is also featured on Count Bass D's new release on Fat Beats Records. The track is called "Half the Fun"; the CD is entitled "Act Your Waist Size".

Van has a 7-page feature in December 2006 issue of Sister 2 Sister magazine. The article appears be quite dated, and has similar themes from previous profiles that surfaced around the release of "on the Jungle Floor".

Van has a very active Myspace and message board following. In a recent post about his future plans and he says…"my focus is on the next record. My child probably could care less about it. He just wants me to get my ass down on that floor and play some legos with him...this might be the last time I have to reach out to ya'll for a while. So, just let me say now that I’ve enjoyed the correspondence. It’s such a thrill to be able to exchange thoughts with you. Maybe, when we see each other at the shows, we can exchange some wine".
