Vampirebuster
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Vampirebuster is a term applied to a parapsychologist who is an expert in the field of vampirism (As opposed to the term Ghostbuster applied to parapsychologists dealing in exorcism). Vampirebusters frequently perform exorcisms in areas that are thought to be haunted by vampires, spreading holy water across the haunted area, then chanting extracts from the Holy Bible to ward off evil.
The two best-known Vampirebusters are Van Helsing from Bram Stokers Dracula, and the Vampire-Hunter featured in the film The Little Vampire.
A Vampirebuster also works as a conventional vampire hunter, and carries out experiments in parapsychology in the same way as a forensics officer to find out more about their prey.
The term "vampirebuster" was first used in a description of The Little Vampire, as a way of describing a ghostbuster who works in the field of vampires.
