Vampaneze are a fictional group from the Darren Shan series of books.

A long time ago vampires lived in the past draining humans of blood but when the humans stated to hunt down and kill vampires for this they had to stop to save their race from going extinct. They then decided to only take some blood from humans while they sleep so the vampire community could live unnoticed.

A small group of vampires not wanting to follow this rule disbanded and started their own clan the Vampaneze. they differ in appearance to vampires by having purple skin and red eyes (due to generations of drinking more blood than vampires) but they have all the same strengths and weaknesses. They are little threat to the vampires because they are so few in number and they are careful to leave their killings unnoticed.

It is said that one day a lord would rise among them and lead the vampeaneze to wipe out the vampires and would rule as the Lord of Shadows....but nothing is certain.
