Valsolda is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Como in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 60 km north of Milan and about 25 km north of Como, on the border with Switzerland. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,653 and an area of 31.7 km2.[1]
Valsolda consists of Cressogno, San Mamete, Albogasio, Oria and Santa Margherita on the shores of Lake Lugano, as well as Loggio, Drano, Puria, Dasio and Castello on the mountains above.
Valsolda borders the following municipalities: Cadro (Switzerland), Cimadera (Switzerland), Claino con Osteno, Lanzo d'Intelvi, Lugano (Switzerland), Porlezza, Ramponio Verna, Sonvico (Switzerland), Val Rezzo, Villa Luganese (Switzerland).
