Valmikipuram

Valmikipuram or Vayalpadu is a main town of the Chittoor district, located 100 kilometres from Tirupati in India. Vayalpad is a MLA constituency and was a major taluk headquarters for the district.
Vayalpadu was formerly known as Valmikipuram. Recently it was renamed as "Valmikipuram". The main area of economy is cultivation and farming. Three of the major crops are paddy (rice), tomatos, and groundnuts and Sugar cane.
As it is located on National Highway NH-258 it is connected with a good frequency of buses. There is a railway station in Vayalpadu.
Valmikipuram has a degree college and two other colleges, and several high schools and elementary schools.
The main festivals are Sri Ramnavami Jatara (a local mela which is unique), Ramzan and Bakrid.
