Valhalla Rising is a 2001 Clive Cussler book in the Dirk Pitt series.
[edit] Plot
Dirk Pitt has to stop an evil genius in control of a natural gas company from taking control of the U.S. It is typical Dirk Pitt novel dealing with a countdown, bribed officials, and ruthless evil leaders. However in the end Dirk finds out that he and his former lover Summer had had children.
[edit] Goofs
In chapter 12 one of the NUMA scientists claims the Titanic to have broken apart while she sank. In reality this really was the case. In Cussler's bestselling novel, however, "Raise the Titanic!" Dirk Pitt not only finds the ship to be in one piece, but was able to raise it to the surface and have her towed to New York Harbor. Of course "Raise the Titanic" was written long before the real Titanic was discovered so the author couldn't have known about the ship's condition on the seafloor. Nevertheless the storyline in Vallhalla Rising deviates from previous Dirk Pitt novels.
