Valdemārpils

Valdemārpils (until 1926 – Sasmaka) is a city in northwestern Latvia, near Talsi. It was the birthplace of Krišjānis Valdemārs, who started modern Latvian seafaring. He is celebrated in the city with a memorial stone.
