Val-de-Reuil is a suburban city and commune located in the northwestern part of France. It is located south of Rouen in the loop of the Seine. It was created in the 1970s as the new city of Vaudreuil (not to be confused with the communal neighbor of Le Vaudreuil.
[edit] Population
The new city saw its population passing from 378 in 1975 to 11,359 in 1990. The growth has continued more slowly since then.
[edit] History
Vaudreuil was one of the new nine cities created in France in the beginning of the 1970s.
- June 1972, creation of the Établissement Public d'Aménagement of the new city of Vaudreuil.
- December 1972, creation of the Ensemble Urbain du Vaudreuil which includes communes including Vaudreuil. The population do not depend on any more of the communes but a statute carried out many disputes.
- September 28, 1981, to answer the disputes, the Ensemble Urbain became a commune whose creation cut down Incarville, Léry, Porte-Joie, Poses, Saint-Étienne-du-Vauvray, Saint-Pierre-du-Vauvray, Tournedos-sur-Seine and Le Vaudreuil and was Le Vaudreuil-Ex Ensemble Urbain.
- November 19, 1984, the city changed its name to Val-de-Reuil to avoid confusions with nearby Le Vaudreuil.
- December, 1985, the dissolution of the établissement public d'aménagement, whose competences were transferred into the commune.
- 1996: Val-de-Reuil joined the communauté de communes with Louviers and Incarville.
- 2001 Val-de-Reuil became part of the Communauté d'agglomération Seine-Eure which has its principal centre in Louviers.
