[edit] Welcome

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia!

Just a few quick tips:

  • Our Tutorial explains how to edit; you can experiment in the test area.
  • We have help pages, and if they don't help (can happen :-), post a question at the Help Desk.
  • Remember that we strive to have unbiased articles.
  • Eventually, you might want to read our Manual of Style and Policies and Guidelines.
  • Use the "Preview" button below the edit box! It helps you catch layout, format, and spelling errors before saving.
  • To sign your messages (to talk pages, for instance—like I do below), add four tildes (~~~~) to your posts. The software will replace them by your signature and a time stamp when you save the page.

Anyway, have fun improving this encyclopedia! Lupo 09:52, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Infos on images

Please go to Image:Farctraining1.jpg and edit that image description page to give the source (URL, if online; ISBN, if scanned from a book; and if you've taken the image yourself, just say so) and the licensing status (the list of image copyright tags might be useful) of this image. All our images should have this information. Thank you. Lupo 09:52, 22 September 2005 (UTC) (This also applies to all the other images you've uploaded.)

I see that you have now given the source as http://www.farcep.org and tagged them {{GFDL}}. What makes you believe these images were GFDL'ed? Can you point me to a copyright/license notice on the source site that says so? Lupo 08:06, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

In source (http://www.farcep.org) there you can see "40 Aniversario de las FARC-EP" and all the images they provided free use and there are no Copyright status. Thank you. 27 September 2005

Copyright doesn't work that way. Unless they say explicitly that they release their images under the terms of the GFDL, you cannot tag them as such. Where on their pages do they say their images were free to use? Free even for redistribution, commercial uses, distributing edited versions? I don't see any such statement on their pages. Could you please provide a precise link (not just the one to their home page)? Maybe I'm just missing it... If they don't say anything about the copyright of their images, you have to assume that they are, indeed, copyrighted. Lupo 15:52, 27 September 2005 (UTC)

The images were taken from FARC-EP official web site and they did not state any Copyright status. Therefore, how can we use these images only for the material relating that organization ? please advice me, because we are contributing the things for further development of the "wikipedia". 28 September 2005

Good starting points to find out about Wikipedia's image policies are Copyright FAQ and Wikipedia:Copyrights. Lupo 11:25, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
