Vaikasi Brahmotsavam

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Brahmotsavam is an annual festival celebrated in temples of South India for ten days. The festivity commences with the 'Dwajarohanam', meaning hoisting the temple flag. The idol of the God (mainly the presiding deity of the temple) would be kept decorated on Pallakku, Vaahanaas, Chariot, etc on all the ten days. The last day of the celebrations would be 'aaraattu' when the idol taken outside the temple is immersed in the temple tank or beach.
