Vélodrome de Vincennes

The Vélodrome de Vincennes (officially Vélodrome Jacques Anquetil - La Cipale) is a stadium in Vincennes, near Paris, France. It's geographic coordinates are 48°49′34.79″N, 2°24′41.50″E.

Initially built as a velodrome in 1894, it became the main stadium for the 1900 Summer Olympics, where the opening ceremony took place; however, the track and field events were held at the track of Racing Club of France. Events that took place in the Velodrome included cycling, cricket, rugby union, football and gymnastics. The stadium was also used for cycling and football events at the 1924 Summer Olympics. In addition, it was the finish line of the Tour de France between 1968 and 1974, most notably seeing Eddy Merckx winning several of his Tours there.
