UTStarcom is a Fortune 1000 company specialising in IP-based networking products. The company's best known product is the IPDSLAM, UTStarcom F1000, a Wi-Fi SIP voice over IP handset resold by several service providers including SIPGate, BroadVoice and PeopleCall. The company was founded in 1991 and is based in Alameda, California. The company has research and design operations in the United States, China, Korea and India.
UTStarcom acquired the CommWorks Corporation of Rolling Meadows, Illinois from 3Com Corporation in 2003, as well as Rolling Streams Systems, an IPTV equipment company, of Campbell, California, in 2003. UTStarcom also acquired Audiovox's cell phone subsidiary Audiovox Communications Corp on November 1, 2004.
UTStarcom was formed by the merger of two companies - UniTech and Starcom in 1995.
