UTG
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
UTG or Under the Gun is an airsoft brand that is owned by Leapers. Under the name UTG, the company began making airsoft accessories, including gun cases, vests and scopes.
[edit] Intro
UTG began to make mid-ranged AEG and powerful spring rifles. UTG first started with their MP5 model which came with both an A4 and A5 stock, a 150 and 500 round magazine, and a battery/charger. This is arguably the first popular MPEG, firing 280, 290 FPS with a .2 gram bb and having a quick 800 RPM firing rate. The next model was an AK-47 that fired an impressive 280 FPS and came with two 400 round magazines. This gun was called the Warhawk, and was later followed by a Spetsnaz model, and a AK-47S, which has a folding stock. Some of the spring rifles that UTG carries include a spring version of each AEG, an M87 shotgun in full stock, collapsable stock, and pistol grip configurations and the M324 bolt action sniper rifle, which features an impressive 280 fps at a much lower price than other airsoft manufacturers. An example of the sniper rife would be the UTG Model 700
[edit] Reception
Many critics would argue that UTG is inferior to the more well established names in airsoft, such as Tokyo Marui, but appeals largely to low budget or beginner airsofters due to their guns, which are usually a fraction of the cost of higher quality AEGs. This can be shown by the popularity of their Shotguns, which offer higher FPS than any other airsoft gun in their price range (up to 300+ on the M87 Shotgun with .12 gram bb, or 270+ with 0.2 gram). Thus they can be used somewhat effectively in Close Combat airsoft games, as a backup weapon in woodland airsoft games, and as a very cheap Sniper Rifle in power restricted game areas.
