USS Missouri

Three ships of the United States Navy (and one of the Confederate Navy) have borne the name USS Missouri in honor of the 24th state.
- USS Missouri, 10, a sidewheel frigate, was launched in 1841. She made the first powered crossing of the Atlantic by a steam warship and was lost to fire at Gibraltar in August 1843.
- USS Missouri (BB-11), a Maine-class battleship, sailed with the Great White Fleet, 1900-1922.
- USS Missouri (BB-63), a Iowa-class battleship, was the last battleship completed by the United States, and the site of the official Japanese surrender in World War II. BB-63 was in commission: 1944-1955 and 1986-1992.
