USCGC Triton

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Two ships of the U.S. Coast Guard have been named USCGC Triton, after Triton, the son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, and the personification of the roaring waters:

  • The first Triton was a 165-foot cutter which operated out of Coast Guard Base 15 at Biloxi, Mississippi during what was referred to at the time as "the Prohibition War"—operations against alcohol smugglers during Prohibition.
