[edit] Overview
USA Football is an independent non-profit organization whose purpose is to support and expand football at all amateur levels. The first national advocacy group created for this purpose, USA Football was launched in December 2002 and received initial funding from the National Football League and the NFL Players Association, through the NFL Youth Football Fund.
USA Football does not run leagues or teams. It works with both independent and nationally affiliated organizations by providing products, services, and funding.
It is the designated U.S. representative to the International Federation of American Football.
[edit] Governor's Cup
In August 2006, USA Football awarded Mississippi the Governor's Cup as the Best Football State. The criteria was based on a weighted scale developed by the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. The criteria was based on the amount of football played in the state weighted with the total population.
