It seemed to me that the image US states by date of statehood.PNG needed a more coherent color gradient in order to convey at a glance the chronological information inherent in the map. I found that a simple one-color, dark-to-light, gradient was not sufficient given the number of categories, so I used this pink-purple-blue-aqua gradient instead. Note that the recoloring was accomplished in The GIMP. - dcljr 06:59, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
