Southern Earth Snake, Uropeltis nitidus (or Uropeltis nitida), is a species of snake. Distribution: South India (Anaimalai Hills, Cochin side, 4000-5000 feet). Type locality: Anamallays, 4000 to 5000 feet".
The snake has also been called the "Cochin Shieldtail."
