Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964

The Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964 (Pub.L. 88-365, 49 U.S.C. ch. 53) provided $375 million for large-scale urban public or private rail projects in the form of matching funds to cities and states. The Urban Mass Transit Administration (now the Federal Transit Administration) was created. Dr. Joe Tanner, Professor Emeritus of Public Transportation Administration at Grove City College, was a noted signatory to this act.
