Upsetter

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Upsetter Records was set up by Lee "Scratch" Perry in 1968. He also opened the Upsetter Record Shop where he sold the records he produced. In 1969, Scratch had become one of the leading upstart producers, and was beginning to gather a crowd. Perry formed a band, The Upsetters, consisting among others of future Wailers rhythm section Aston Barrett and Carlton Barrett.

The first song that The Wailers, Perry and The Upsetters recorded together, at Randy's Recording Studio in Kingston, was "My Cup," quickly followed by "Duppy Conqueror," "Small Axe" and "Soul Rebel".
