Uplyme

Uplyme is a village which lies on the Devon-Dorset border, sitting between the coastal towns of Seaton (Devon) and Lyme Regis (Dorset). It has a population of approximately 1700.
The parish of Uplyme has one of the largest boundaries in England - in excess of 16 miles, the area of the village being approximately 3618 Acres, or about 5½ square miles.
The earliest recorded reference to the parish was in AD740 when Cynewulf, King of Wessex gifted the manor of Uplyme to Glastonbury Abbey.
