Up All Night (radio show)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Up All Night is a programme broadcast on the national radio station BBC Radio Five Live in the United Kingdom and is on air between the hours of 1am and 5am every night. It is also broadcast on all of the BBC's local radio frequencies across England and on Radio Scotland and Radio Cymru and has continued since the station's launch on Monday March 28 1994.
Its main presenter, Rhod Sharp [1] had proposed the idea of an all-night radio show for the new station which made use of the BBC's correspondents from all over the world. He has continued to present several shows each week ever since.
The show has a heavy interest in the USA and often features news, interviews and even live baseball commentaries from there, the Superbowl has also been broadcast, in an extended program (normally 2200 the previous night until 0500 the next morning), this however is streamed from another provider and thus is not allowed to be broadcast live on the Internet due to Copyright regulations.
Other presenters include Dotun Adebayo, Dalya Raphael and Russell Fuller.
The programme has gained a cult audience because of its off-beat approach to the news combined with various regular features.
