Talk:Up From Slavery
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Students and scholars of Washington's autobiography, "Up From Slavery" will benefit from a review of W. E. B. Du Bois' response to Washington in his own work, "The Souls of Black Folk" (1903). In this work Du Bois suggests that Washington's "slow and steady" approach to equal rights for African Americans is ineffective. Du Bois calls for immediate measures in the form of voting rights and educational opportunity.
