Unterseeboot 8

U8 was the name of three submarines of the German Navies.
The first U8 was a submarine of the Kaiserliche Marine. She sunk on March 4, 1915, during the Dover barrage. Trapped in indicator nets, U-8 was sunk by the destroyers HMS Maori and Ghurka. The crew was rescued.
The second U8 was a Type IIB submarine of the Kriegsmarine. She was constructed by Germaniawerft, Kiel and launched March 25, 1935. She was commissoned August 5, 1935. She served as a training boat, went on no war patrol and thus did not sink or damage any ship in World War II. She was scuttled May 2, 1945 in Wilhelmshaven harbour.
The third U8 was a Type 205 submarine of the Bundesmarine. She was built by HDW of Kiel and served from July 22, 1964 to October 9, 1974. After her decommissioning she was scrapped.
