Unterseeboot 49

Unterseeboot 49 or U-49 was a Nazi German U-Boat that operated during the early years of World War II. It was first launched on June 24th, 1939, with a crew of 44 under the command of Kurt von Gossler.

U-49 departed on its first active patrol on November 9th, 1939. On November 19th, 1939, it came into contact with the British 4,258 ton Pensilva. On April 14th, 1940, U-49 was sunk with all hands lost by British forces.
