Unterseeboot 1063

Unterseeboot 1063 was a Type VIIC/41 submarine of the Kriegsmarine. Her keel was laid down on 17 August, 1943 by F. Krupp Germaniawerft AG, Kiel. She was commissioned on 8 July, 1944 with Kptlt. Karl-Heinz Stephan in command.

She conducted one patrol

  • 8 July, 1944 to 28 Feb, 1945 5th Flottille (training)
  • 1 March, 1945 to 15 April, 1945 11th Flottille (front boat)

1063 was sunk on 15 April, 1945 in the English Channel west of Land's End, south of Bigbury Bay Devon, in position 50.08.54N, 03.53.24W, by squid depth charges from the British frigate HMS Loch Killin. 29 of the crew were killed, there were 17 survivors.

She now lies at a depth of 58 meters.
