'Unskinny Bop' is a song by American glam metal band Poison from Flesh and Blood. (1990)

The song was released as a single in both America and the UK in 1990. It charted in both countries, peaking at #3 in the US and # 15 in the UK. This made it the band's second highest success, after "Every Rose Has Its Thorn". The meaning of "Unskinny Bop", one of the band's most popular songs, has always been shrouded in obscurity. Guitarist C.C. DeVille later confessed that the phrase has no particular meaning. DeVille invented it as a temporary measure while writing the song, before vocalist Bret Michaels had begun working on the lyrics. The phrase was used on the basis that it was phonetically suited to the music. The song was later played to producer, Fairbairn, who stated that although he did not know what an "unskinny bop" was, the phrase was perfect. The song's meaning has recently been a topic for debate on "The Broad Cast."
