[edit] Main characters

[edit] Yu Hayakawa

Yu is the "younger" twin brother of Ai. Yu and Ai were on a quest to search for their missing parents together and he's definitely the quieter of the two twins, unlike Ai, who is the louder and more outgoing of the two. The pinion Yu obtained enabled him to sense the feelings of Chobi and every other Chocobo. He was also the first of the gang to meet Earl Tyrant face to face.

By the finale, the twins learned that were never the Haykawas' children, but were products from Chaos itself that came into being twelve years ago after ChaosGunDragon's destruction. As a result, Yu & Ai are the ones who evoke Kaze's MaGun and played an important role in the Earl's defeat. Unfortunately, the Hayakawa twins became targeted by Guadium as the Earl's successors, the Chaos Rulers. This is further worse as Yu's frustrations on not being able to fight Chaos feeds it until he reconciles with that fact.

[edit] Ai Hayakawa

Ai's the big sister of the duo, also in search of her parents. She obtained PoshePocket, a small handbag or pocket which gives everything Ai's heart desires. The only problem is that Ai's PoshePocket tends to misbehave at times so Ai had its mouth taped up after gobbling up half of their food supply, much to the surprise of the other team members. PoshePocket is referred to by Ai as "scarily cute" because of its huge teeth. This delightful PoshePocket proves to be a great help to Ai on special occasions. Ai got her troublesome and meddling PoshePocket from Fabula and she wasn't very grateful for the troubles it caused in the first place. PoshePocket, despite all the great and occasional troubles it caused, is a great friend and soulmate to Ai, which helps her during the hard times in the show. It often uses its mouth, which is biggest liability to get everyone else out of trouble.

[edit] Lisa Pacifist

Lisa using her Kigen Arts.

Later on in the series we see Lisa Pacifist, a 22 year-old girl who helps the twins search for their missing parents. In the most extreme of situations however, Lisa often uses her Kigen Arts style to get everyone else out of trouble when it comes to weaker monsters. Kigen Arts is often called the savior of souls in some parts of the show. Although the main reason for her coming or joining of the quest to aid in the search for the twins' missing parents is still mysterious, her Kigen arts style is the only thing that can keep them safe from the Earl's goons.

Lisa was born in Russia to Tsar Pacifist and her Chinese mother. She spent most of her childhood in China where she was taught the Kigen Arts by her mother on a riverbank when she was a young kid and she told her to balance those three buckets of water and to keep her focus while balancing them. If she fails however, she'll have to regroup her thoughts and rethink. Her Kigen Arts style is a powerful style of concentration and balance used to wipe out any enemy in her path for success. She moved back to Russia when her mother passed away, though she never knew her father, and hid her true feelings with a smile. But her ordeals while helping the twins made Lisa strong and able to express herself like a normal person.

By the finale and Final Fantasy After, Lisa reveals that she was sent by C2 Organization headed by her father to find the Hayakawa professors by spying on their children. It was Lisa's shift when Ai & Yu took the Ghost Train. However, after the adventure in Wonderland, Lisa began to question her relations to the C2 Organization. But overtime, Lisa is overwhelmed by sadness of Dolk's death. But it turned out Soljashy was to feed Chaos with Lisa's rage and despair. In a fit of blind rage, she used her Kigen powers to destroy the Pillar of Darkness at the cost of her life, while absorbing Chaos into her body. But Kaze and Makenshi managed to save her.

[edit] Kaze

One of the Unlimited, Kaze is a lost traveler from another world who has forgotten his name and everything else about himself. His original home world, Windaria, was destroyed by Chaos, and now that he is in Wonderland, he has nothing to do but plot to destroy his arch-enemy Makenshi, or White Cloud as Kaze calls him. The truth is that they were friends as they both cared about Aura, but when Kaze turned himself into Soil to become GunDragon (who was fused into Chaos) and Makenshi had to destroy him as SwordDragon, Kaze lost most of his memory and believed that it Makenshi and not Chaos that was responsible for his world's destruction. He was the older brother of Aura, who turned herself into Soil to give Kaze a chance to fight.

Kaze showed up and traveled with Lisa and the twins for a portion of their journey, but he is hesitant to commit to protecting them, even though he knows that he should. He is the wielder of the incredibly powerful MaGun, and the user of Soil to call his Summons like GunDragon. However, since the battle 12 years ago, the MaGun no longer was evoked on Kaze's command and Kaze takes advantage first chance his weapon is activated. He is called "Black Wind" by the villains, "Mister-Kaze" by the kids, and "that man" by Lisa. Over time, after being reunited with his old friend Moogle, Kaze regained his memory and with Makenshi, defeated Earl Tyrant once and for all by sacrificing himself and finally helping the children as he knew he should.

Kaze survived, ending up in the Tokyo sea. Receiving new Soil from the spirits of many Moogles that died long ago on Winderia, Kaze goes in search for the MaGun which was taken by C2. But the reclaiming of his weapon ends up with him facing not only the C2, but Gaudium once again as well. He also wishes to fight Makenshi, only so they destroy Chaos. However, Kaze's determination to destroy Chaos includes killing the twins because of their connection to it. But Kaze is unable to do that due the others' disapproval. But the others didn't stop him from killing Dolk, who requested a quick death. He used Dolk's soil to free Lisa before he enter the gateway she unitentional created to finish the fight with Chaos once and for all.

  • Quote: "I know nothing of ideals. As long as I get to finish things, I couldn't care less what happens to this world, or who dies!"

[edit] Makenshi

Kumo summoning in Episode 4.

Shrouded in mystery, we initially meet Makenshi serving as a henchman for the finicky Earl Tyrant. However, Makenshi has another name, spoken only from the lips of Kaze, who knows him as White Cloud. An Unlimited from the long-destroyed realm of Misteria, Makenshi used the linear motion of his Maken ("Demon Sword") as a channel of the power of Mist and his SwordDragons to fight. His very breath emitts mist so he keeps it under control with his face-mask in order to prevent it from becoming activated under normal circumstances.

Makenshi seems to be indifferent to Earl Tyrant’s ambitions, as he only joined the Earl's group to learn more about Chaos. After retrieving a huge part of Omega, the Earl promoted him to the status of Lord of Gaudium, replacing Fungus who died a while later. When the final battle began, Makenshi returned the favor to Kaze by possessing Chaos himself. After GunDragon and Chaos-SwordDragon killed each other, Makenshi was unconscious, but Crux took him away. He found himself on Syliva with his Mist power gone as he found the remnants of Misteria.

Makenshi and Crux appear on Earth during the events of Final Fantasy Unlimited: After. He joined the party and helps Lisa protect the twins from Soljashy, and Kaze. Much of Makenashi's past is revealed as he was a prince during his childhood and learned his swordsmanship from his older brother and only friend at the time, Madoushi. However, as Makenshi wanted to learn the sword to catch up to his brother, he actually excelled him and thus drove a wedge between them. Makenshi also had an appreciation for Aura's beauty.

Before the events of Final Fantasy Unlimited After 2, Makenshi obtains the mist power of his brother. Crux gains the ability to transform into the Cross Sword, which Makenshi uses in combination with his own blade. Makenshi reveals that his goal is not order, but a world where people can express themselves freely without fear of Chaos. He accompanies Kaze into the gateway to finish the fight with Chaos once and for all.

[edit] Earl Tyrant

The tempestuous ruler of Wonderland, this little brat is actually a human representation of Chaos, consuming food created from the negative emotions of those who lost their worlds. It was the Earl's desire to collect all of the various crystals of Omega, whose power will give Chaos the ability to consume all outside worlds, with the Earl as the all-powerful ruler of the universe. He finally revealed his true form, Chaos Tyrant, by the series finale where he was destroyed by Kaze and Makenshi.

[edit] Chaos

Chaos Tyrant
Chaos Tyrant

An entity that destroys other worlds, and feeds on the suffering and anguish of its people. The only thing that can defeat Chaos are the Unlimited and thus, the Earl attempted to have Winderia & Misteria wage war on each other & thus force Kaze and Makenshi to be mortal enemies. The realization being that Unlimited possess the power to enter Chaos and be momentary possessed by said person, leaving them open for a direct attack. However, Chaos can only grow when it has a vassal to act through.

[edit] Lords of Gaudium

The first four were Earl Tyrant's four most loyal servants. They are responsible for ensuring Chaos' survival and their master's enjoyment by destroying his enemies and making others suffer. When Earl Tyrant was destroyed, Herba took over his operation with Soljashy as the first of the Lords of Guadium.

[edit] Fungus

Formerly a general from a world destroyed by Chaos, this mushroom man is supposedly unable to be killed even if chopped into very small pieces. He proves to be quite a formidable foe, who seems to have a deep desire to impress the Earl. But he slowly lost the Earl's favor every time he lost to Kaze. Fungus had a fault-proof plan to redeem himself by using the power of what remained of his home world to kill Kaze, but was betrayed by the Earl and Oscha for his repeated failure. The Immortal Fungus was destroyed along with his homeland by a mysterious mold that ate away at Fungus' homeworld and his super powerful body ( this mold was sent there by the Earl [via Krux] in order to "satisfy" Chaos' hunger). Kaze destroyed Fungus to save him from his agonizing pain, allowing Fungus to finally die in peace.

[edit] Herba

  • Voice Actor: Jessica Smolins
  • Seiyū: Kana Ueda
Herba in her original form
Herba in her original form

A sassy, sexy plant girl who will sick her "Hug-Hug", an artificial plant that will eat anything (given half the chance) on those who get her angry. She is probably the weakest of the Lords of Gaudium, but undoubtedly the Earl’s favorite, for obvious reasons. Despite her fall into Chaos, she actually survived and 'bloomed' into Princess Herba, who assumes command of Gaudium while using her plants to serve as the mediums to nourish Chaos until the Chaos Rulers assume their rightful place. She was responsible for turning Dolk into Soljashy, who had an allergic reaction to her flowers. But the reason behind it was to torment Lisa and used her depair and rage to feed Chaos. When the portal to Wonderland opened as a result of Lisa's rage hitting its zenith, Herba and Oscha retreated into it.

[edit] Pist Shaz the 11th

A arrogant shark-humanoid whose body is entirely made of water and seems to be one-step ahead of everyone. His greatest achievement was the treacherous Ocean Puzzle. He drives a rather luxurious-looking convertible whose front seat looks more like a small swimming pool. He prides himself on collecting and using "data" from previous battles to plan an attack for the next, but these almost always end in failure. He was turned into Mist by Makenshi and was forced to destroy his Ocean Puzzle, dying in the process.

[edit] Oscha

Apparently the most intelligent of the four Guardians. Oscha resembles a jester with no arms who is of a red, black and green color. Actually, he does have arms, but they're usually held within his body. His face is covered by a white mask. He never seems to be surprised by anything. Oscha has the ability to turn his body into shadow. Oscha, however, is believed to be also an agent of Chaos itself because of both his name being a anagram and that the symbol upon his head is the same that Earl Tyrant has upon his throne. In the end, Oscha survived his fall in the final episode when Gaudium was destroyed, even though his mask was cracked open. He begins to select new Lords of Guadium to take over for Herba and the deceased members. Once the portal to Wonderland open, as he forseen, he and Herba retreated into it.

[edit] Soljashy

  • Seiyū: Ken Narita
  • Appears in FF:U After, the After Spiral and FF:U After 2

Wonderland's Consultant, he was formally Dolk of the C2 Organization, the agency that sent Lisa searching for the Hayakawa professors. He and Lisa were once in love, but he has been captured by Herba and now works for Chaos as Soljashy. He fights by sticking his business cards onto objects, transforming them into monsters. Despite everyone's attempts to restore Soljashy to his former self, the man who was once Dolk is no more — Soljashy is merely a parasitic entity using Dolk's body and feeding on the man's life. The real Soljashy is the briefcase his host carried. Soljashy is charged with the task of having Ai & Yu assume their "rightful" positions as the Chaos Rulers by any means needed, even using those they care about to his advantage.

He succeeds in making Guadium and Chaos a beacon of hope and light for those in despair, winning the loyalty of most of the world while promoting egotism for Chaos to feed. However, he is mortally wounded by Makenshi and blasted by Kaze. Dolk is freed, though on the brink of death due to Soljashy taking most of his life. Kaze kills Dolk despite Lisa's pleas. Dolk becomes the soil Chain Gold.

[edit] C2 Organization

A Russian-based peace preservation company assembled the since the day of Conjunction. It is run by the Privy Council.

[edit] Tsar Pacifist

Lisa's father and the leading figure of C2. He was an ambitious man who sacrificed all for the Privy Council. His marriage and his family were nothing but political bargaining tools to him.

[edit] Michaelov

[edit] Zatopek

[edit] Ridchenko

[edit] Comodeen

A group of people who refused to give in to despair and banded together to bring order to WonderLand and stop Earl Tyrant's evil. Only four principal members are known.

[edit] Knave

The Leader of the Comodeen, a romantic by nature. He wields a bazooka and gattling gun.

[edit] Miles

The only female member of the Comodeen, or so it would seem. She's a bit of a tomboy in personality (though she was more feminine as a child). She wields a pan-flute version of the blowguns the generic members use. She develops a crush on Cid and has a taste for reptiles and amphibians.

[edit] Fungo

The youngest and most recent member of the Comodeen, he introduced Lisa and the twins to the Comodeen (after he stole Ai's backpack and ate it). From his home world, stealing was a way of life and was deemed perfectly acceptable. Fungo also has a keen sixth sense, almost equivalent to the Spidey-Sense, even though it always takes effect just seconds before something bad happens. He can understand Cactuar.

[edit] Cid

The most popular member of the Comodeen as well the group's greatest advantage. Cid's inventions are always beneficial, though he names them after women and cares for them a little too deeply. When his machines get even slightly scratched or otherwise "broken", Cid goes mental with his 'Ultimate Hammer' attack. He was the one who invented Elizabeth, better known as the Ghost Train. But he never got to ride his Elizabeth and was heartbroken when he learned Omega obliterated it. But he overcame his grief with his new Comodeen projects, the submarine Jane (used to fetch "Flying Water" from Teros) and the airship Sylvia (used for the final battle against Gaudium itself, though it never occurred in the series). He apparently had very good knowledge on the Soil and its properties.

[edit] Final Fantasy mascots

[edit] Chobi the Chocobo

Yu's Chocobo pet/friend. Chobi loves to grab Ai’s hair and swing her to and fro like a rag doll (According to Yu, it's sort of a pacifier for him). He tends to know the location of the GhostTrain due to the clock on his collar. But it would turn out the clock, Cid's invention, Izabel, was altered by Oscha to serve as a tracking device to keep tabs on the twins (The clock itself and the GhostTrain were built by Cid for Soljashy.). Chobi eventually received a power-up to Ciel Chocobo, being able to fly.

[edit] Moogle

Though referred as Moogle, his personal name is "Kupo". He appeared late in the series and sacrificed his life to give Kaze the power to fight Earl Tyrant in the form of the Soil Soul GunMetal.

[edit] Pepo the Moogle

  • Appeared in Final Fantasy Before

[edit] Cactuar

[edit] Summons

[edit] Gun Dragon

Chaos Gun Dragon
Chaos Gun Dragon

Kaze's primary summon, it first appeared as ChaosGunDragon while Kaze attempted to control Chaos in vain. It finally appeared in its true form during the final battle with Earl Tyrant. ChaosGunDraon's Soil combination is Marvellous Orange, Maniac Purple, and Ultra Shocking Pink. The Soil combination used for GunDragon's true form is Tear Rainbow, Soul GunMetal, & Endless White.

[edit] Sword Dragon

Makenshi's only Summon, used in most of his attacks. During the final battle with Earl Tyrant, Makenshi assumed his summon form and entered Chaos Tyrant, turning it into ChaosSword Dragon to hold the Earl at bay while Kaze kills him.

  • Twin Sword Dragon

[edit] Kigen Dragon

The Kigen Art's most powerful move, generating all the life-energy to create a summon. While normally fatal (in the case of Lisa's mother), Lisa only collapses due to the physics of Wonderland. It appeared twice in the series. The Kigen Dragon appeared a third time, out of Lisa's blind rage, to draw out Chaos from the Pillar of Darkness while tearing it down. However, it was becoming Chaos KigenDragon as a result. It was sudated by Anima and destroyed by Twin Sword Dragon.

[edit] Kaze's other Summons

The first ten were used by Kaze in the series. But he received new summons to replace the ones he lost in the last episode..

  • Phoenix: First used to destroy Kinokogu, then in a vain attack to kill giant Fungus. Was upgraded to Giga Phoenix, prior to falling unto Pist's control and destroyed by Makenshi.

[edit] Other/Miscellaneous characters

[edit] Fabula

Better known as the "guide", she appears before and after each episode, giving a brief synopsis of the previous episode at the beginning, and "prophecising" (basically giving a preview) of the next episode. She rarely is involved, with the exception of giving Ai Poshepocket, and saving the twins and Lisa when Omega destroys the Ghost Train, and giving Ai a cryptic message when she and her family returned to the their world after the Earl's defeat.

[edit] Lou Lupus

She comes from an ancient land, and she states later that her homeland and people were destroyed by a malevolent force, soon proven to be Omega. She was reluctant to befriend the twin due to her being a werewolf and feared their rejection. Her transformation required a mirror as her kind gaze into each other to assume their anthropomorphic wolf form. In her beast form, Lou general attack involves sound waves from her howling. She apparently is infatuated with Kaze after he "saves her" from Omega. Though he ignores her, Lou hopes to be with Kaze. She eventually she gets off of the train in search for Kaze when he disappears.

She eventually came under Bolbol's service and helped him, in exchange for a cape made out of Flying Water to make her job of finding Kaze easier, until she's reunited with the twins & Lisa. In the finale, Lou sacrificed herself to take the deathblow from, Chaos intended for Kaze. She died soon after though she aided Kaze in spirit by offering her soul to the MaGun so that Chaos could be destroyed. She later spoke to Kaze that she no longer hate Omega knowing the truth about it, and remains with Kaze in his eyes.

[edit] Crux

A fairy marionette brought to life by Oscha to spy on the twins and Lisa. Her entire vocabulary seems to be "ku-ku-ri-yu". She's not quite mindless, though...as she developed feelings for Makenshi when he saved her. This act resulted in Crux rebelling against Oscha and helping in the Earl's defeat.

After the final battle, Crux took Makenshi away from the scene tend to his wounds. She is now his traveling companion. Crux was mortally wounded by Crux-2 while she found Madoushi's grave. On instinct, she gave Makenshi the jewel, allowing him to inherit his brother's power. Crux was given the ability to transform into the Cross Sword that Makenshi uses in battle.

[edit] Crux Number-2

A propeller-driver marionette brought to life by Oscha, a more advanced model of her "older sister". Her entire vocabulary seems to be "kuk-ku-ru-dyuu".

[edit] Clear

An iridescent boy who's actually the heart of Omega, a creature whose mere existence destroys things due to its unstable power. It was torn into pieces which were spread around Wonderland, but it's pieces are still alive and search for each other so they can be one again. Clear ended up in Teros where he stayed until Bolbol made him a cloak of Flying Water to cover his entire body and hold his power at bay. Clear hates himself for destroying everything he touches.

Ai tried to bring him close, but an unfortunate incident with Pist's monsters ends up with his glove being torn off and an explosion occurring, separating him from Ai. Clear was captured and was fused with his Flying Water suit to create a stable crystal for the Earl to absorb. Clear's crystal is retrieved by Crux and given to Makenshi in FF:U After, who entrusts it to Ai in the After Spiral. Clear was inserted into Sylvia to serve in the ship's Flight Water Recycling System.

[edit] Joe & Mary Hayakawa

Ai and Yu's parents, geologists by trade. They disappeared into Wonderland on the Day of Succession and return to Earth later to write out their findings. Twelve years later, they went back, only to captured by Earl Tyrant and under the influence of Herba's Manipulas, use their research abilities to further the Earl's plans. Though they were freed from the Earl's control, they ended up in the hands of the C2 Organization. The two are currently held at London.

[edit] Aura

Kaze's younger sister from the world of Windaria. When Chaos destroyed their world, Aura was mortally wounded. She offered to turn herself into Soil for Kaze to use to fight Chaos as GunDragon. Aura apparently had a relationship with Makenshi.

[edit] Madoushi

Makenshi's older brother from Misteria. Originally his younger brother's only friend, Madoushi taught Makenshi everything he knew in the art of combat. However, much to Madoushi's dismay, Makenshi outdid him in swordsmanship. As a result, Madoushi felt himself to be in his younger brother's shadow and wanted to see who was stronger, even after he died when Chaos attacked their world to prove himself stronger.

He was resurrected by Oscha, so he can challenge Makenshi to see once and for all who was the greater brother. But Makenshi was reluctantly forced to take his brother down for good. Makenshi still thinks about Madoushi, wondering if his brother intended everything to go that way. He later had Crux give Makenshi a gem that held his very power.

[edit] Bolbol

A weird, Italian-accent clothier living near Teros who has the ability to make Flying Water clothes for a hefty amount of Gil. Lou worked under Bolbol so he can make her a cape of Flying Water.

[edit] Sagi

A young boy found by Lisa in a mansion. Sagi spent his time laying a guilt trip on Lisa. As it turns out, he's the embodiment of a sagisou (egret orchid) whom Lisa confided in as a child. It somehow ended up in WonderLand by one of Oscha's crazy contraptions and manifested in a form that only Lisa could see. The sagisou would end up among the plants in Herba's garden, symbolizing Lisa's lonely grief.

[edit] Chocobaba

  • Voice Actor: Lainie Frasier

When Ai and Yu return to Sado Island, they are reunited with Touya. But Touya is prejudiced against Makenshi from being from Wonderland. Touya's ideal about Wonderlanders being inhuman conflicts with his friendship to the twins when Soljashy reveals to Touya that Yu and his sister are from Wonderland and explains their connection to Chaos.

But overtime, Touya starts feeling guilty about doubting Yu and runs out to apologize to his friend. However, he is led into Soljashy's trap, kidnapped and used as bait to lure the twins. Through the party's efforts, Touya is saved, at last understanding that the twins are still themselves, only stronger. He awaits their return.

But if they fail to answer all three, not only would the players turn into puddles of water but the others would sink closer into Chaos. However, Lisa, with Kaze's help, finally answered Somosan's riddle and exposed her deception. Dying as a result, Somosan intended to take the others with her.
