From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The University of Zulia, located in Maracaibo, Venezuela, is one of the largest and most important universities in Venezuela. Though it is located mostly within the state of Zulia, it has one faculty in Falcón state. It comprises the following eleven faculties: Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Architecture and Design, Experimental Faculty of Sciences, Experimental Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Juridical and Political Sciences, Faculty of Economical and Social Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Science Faculty of Agronomics and the Faculty of Humanities and Education. The University of Zulia has three different nuclei, the one located in the city of Maracaibo being the biggest and most important by far, and the smaller nuclei located in the cities of Cabimas (within the Zulia State) and Punto Fijo (in the Paraguana Peninsula, Falcon State)
The Experimental Faculty of Sciences offers degrees of Bachelor of Science in the following fields: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science. However it should be highlighted that the acquisition of these degrees in Venezuela involves the presentation of a thesis, unlike their American counterparts (besides, the duration of these careers is of ten semesters). The experimental character of this faculty is basically referred to its special model of academic organization, unique within the University of Zulia.
