The University of Wisconsin-Parkside (also UWP or UW-P) is part of the University of Wisconsin System and was founded in July 1968.

The campus is located in Somers just north of Kenosha.

UW-P was founded in 1968, when the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents decided to consolidate the UW Centers in Racine and Kenosha and create a single four-year campus. It contains a college of arts and science and a school of business and technology. In addition to undergraduate programs, it offers master's degrees in applied molecular biology, business administration, and computer science.

The school has an enrollment of approximately 5,000. A majority of the students are commuters, and there is a high percentage of "non-traditional" students.

It is part of Division II in the NCAA and competes in many sports including softball and basketball. The mascot is a bear, and the sports teams' name is The Parkside Hobo Rangers. The campus has a disc golf course.

The campus radio station is WIPZ, "The Pisz".

UW-Parkside has a men's rugby team which was formed in 1997 by Dr. John Murphy, a local chiropractor/former collegiate rugby player from Life University in Georgia. [1]
