University of Southern California Law School
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The University of Southern California Law School (Gould School of Law), located in Los Angeles, CA, is part of the University of Southern California. The oldest law school in the Southwestern United States, USC Law was founded in 1896 and has about 630 J.D. students (210 per year). The law school also has a growing and well recognized LLM program of about 60 students. Law School 100, a ranking scheme that purports to use qualitative criteria instead of quantitative, ranks the law school fourteenth overall, tied with Duke, UCLA, and University of Texas. The 2007 U.S. News & World Report list of "America's Best Graduate Schools" ranks USC Law School at number seventeen. The LL.M program is considered to be one of the best in the country for foreign lawyers.
The curriculum emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of law, and thus many Professors have PhDs in addition to JDs.
USC Law publishes three academic journals: Southern California Law Review, Interdisciplinary Law Journal, and Southern California Review of Law and Social Justice (formerly the Review of Law and Women's Studies).
