University of South Asia is located in Provincial capital of Punjab, Lahore ,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pakistan. Its the one and only University in Cantonment. University of South Asia, Lahore Cantt., commonly referred to as USAis one of the leading universities of Pakistan.offering Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral degrees in a variety of disciplines.This private university was founded by Mahmood Sadiq of “The Sadiq Memorial Educational Society”. The emergence of University of South Asia on the educational scene of Pakistan is a relatively recent phenomenon but the progress it has made so far is phenomenal. The University, however, does not want to rest on its achievements and is looking ahead for further expansion to be at par with renowned universities. The achievements of the University of South Asias over the years are indicative of dedication, hard work and expertise of the team that has constantly been serving the cause of better quality higher education in Pakistan.
The Governor of Punjab is the Chancellor of the university. The Vice-Chancellor is the executive head and manages the university functions.

During the last two decades, there have been enormous changes in the global trend of business and industry. Accordingly a need was felt to reframe our system of education with a view to switching from aimless education to modern purposeful and job-oriented education in order to overcome the challenges of the 21st century.
Keeping in view the limitation of the public sector, it was required from the private sector to share the burden of education with the Government. Accordingly, a most courageous and innovative step was initiated by “The Sadiq Memorial Educational Society” for establishing a chain of National Colleges of Computer Science (NCCS) throughout the country for offering Computer Science Program.
Under the dynamic leadership of the members of The Sadiq Memorial Educational Society, initially a mass computer literacy campaign was launched with the aim to promote computer education and its practical usage in Pakistan. The primary mission was to prepare the nation to participate fully in the computer revolution that continues unabated to date. The Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) program was launched in 1992 and Intermediate with Computer Science (ICS) was introduced in 1994. The year 1995 was yet another milestone as MBA and MCS programs were launched that year. During a short span of 16 years, more than 100,000 students have graduated from The National Group of Colleges and are holding key posts in various offices and enterprises of national and multinational repute.
National Group of Colleges succeeded in the establishment of a chartered degree-awarding higher education institution by the name of Institute of South Asia on Monday, April 14, 2003 vide “The Institute of South Asia, Lahore, Ordinance 2003, Punjab Ordinance No. IV of 2003”.
Institute of South Asia was upgraded to the status of a university on May 29, 2004, with Chief Minister of the Punjab formally inaugurating University of South Asia.

University of South Asia has been chartered as ‘University’ by Govt. of Punjab through legislation passed by Punjab Assembly.
The University was formally inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Punjab, Ch. Pervaiz Elahi, on May 29, 2004, with a solemn pledge of reforming the higher education scene in the country.
The Inauguration Ceremony was attended by the intellectual elite of Lahore. The select gathering comprised seasoned academicians, researchers, businessmen, industrialists, members of the corporate sector, and politicians. Guests were given a guided tour of the beautiful campus and given detailed overview of the learning resources of the University. They appreciated the serene environment of this seat of higher learning. Speaking at the occasion, Ch. Pervaiz Elahi said, “We need to meet the new challenges of the new Century and I am pleased to note that the Management of University of South Asia is equal to these challenges.” He added, “I believe they will work to uplift the standard of higher education, offer job oriented teaching programs, and become instrumental in reducing unemployment, hence giving confidence to our future generations. I hope that the University will flourish in the days to come, and become a center of excellence for higher studies.”
Mr. Imran Masood, Minister for Education, said that giving a charter to any public or private University is a very difficult process and the governments are very stingy in giving these charters. The capacity and faculty of the university were two main factors influencing this decision.
'Lt. Gen. Tauqir Zia (R), 'Rector, University of South Asia said, “University of South Asia offers a distinctive form of study, one that extends respect, freedom, and responsibility to the students".

USA is located in the cantonment of Lahore, on the 47-Tufail Road, near JINNAH HOUSE.
