The University of Sagar, currently known as Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya (Dr. Harisingh Gour University), is a public university in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, India. It was founded by Dr. Harisingh Gour on 18 July 1946, during the British Raj, and is the 18th oldest university of the Indian subcontinent.

Sagar is considered to be the Cambridge or Oxford of the East; the dream of Dr.Hari Singh Gour; and the Pride of Central India. It is the oldest university of Madhya Pradesh, India. It has its own glittering heritage, the divine culture. It is a lighthouse of knowledge in the heart of India.

The University has 70 affiliated colleges and 11 faculties comprising 70 disciplines. The University also has a distance education wing.
