The University of Calabria (Italian: Università della Calabria, UNICAL) is a middle-sized state-run university in Italy.
Located in Arcavacata di Rende, a small city near Cosenza, in Calabria, the university was founded in 1972. It currently has about 27,000 students, 450 teaching and research staff and about 700 administrative staff.

[edit] Campus
The Campus of the University of Calabria was originally designed by Vittorio Gregotti and Dänen Martensson. A distinctive linear structure is its relevant feature. Buildings are all situated along a suspension bridge, that is currently 1.3 chilometres long. As in British and North-American campus, students live in specific residential blocks near the Campus. The whole Campus is swathed in greenery of hills near Arcavacata, a small village at 10 km from Cosenza.
