The University of Cádiz (Universidad de Cádiz) was founded in 1979, and is especially noted for medicine and marine sciences. It is situated in Cádiz on the south coast of Spain. In 2005/2006 there were officially 18199 students, 1563 lecturers and 680 administration and services workers.

Its Faculty of Medicine traces its foundation to that of the Royal Naval College of Surgery in 1748, and which was the first in Europe to combine medicine and surgery in a single school.

Its Marine Science departments constitute CASEM (Centro Andaluz Superior de Estudios Marinos), which offers studies in Marine Environment and Marine Resources, Seafaring, Marine Engineering, Naval Radioelectronics and Naval Engineering.
