PROFILE

One of the sources of pride of our county's Summer Capital- the City of Baguio, the cleanest and greenest city in the Philippines- is the UNIVERSITY OF BAGUIO, one of the leading educational institutions in the country.

It was granted the Award of Distinction as Deregulated Status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) last October 2001. Putting it among the top fifty-two (52) among more than 1200 private higher educational institutions throughout the Philippines.

The quality education offered by the UNIVERSITY OF BAGUIO prepares the student to face the challenges posed by a highly competitive world of work. Its competent faculty, excellent and up-to-date facilities, harmonious and intellectual climate, family atmosphere, healthy campus politics, wholesome athletic competitions and other worthwhile activities have all contributed to mould capable, competent, responsible, dedicated and service-oriented men and women.

The academic programs of the UNIVERSITY OF BAGUIO have attracted students from Northern Luzon and the different regions of the country as well as nineteen foreign countries.

Founded by Dr. Fernando G. Bautista and Mrs. Rosa C. Bautista on August 8, 1948, the UNIVERSITY OF BAGUIO continues to provide the QUALITY and RESPONSIVE EDUCATION.

It was granted LEVEL II SECOND RE-ACCREDITED STATUS by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities - Commission on Accreditation (PACU-COA) and certified by the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP). The quality of education the University provides is attested by the outstanding performance of its graduates in the licensure/board examinations along Allied Medical Sciences (Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, Dentistry, and Optometry), Civil and Sanitary Engineering, Criminology, Teacher Education and Accountancy.

The UNIVERSITY OF BAGUIO was designated as Center of Development in Sanitary Engineering by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). While the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) designated it as Center for Training and Development in JAVA Programming, ORACLE Developer and Database Administrator Track. It is the only CISCO Local Networking Academy in the CAR region. DOST has also accredited the University to offer Computer Technology Programs and Electronics and Communications Engineering (BSECE).

The UNIVERSITY OF BAGUIO has established linkages and exchange programs with Japan, China, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Singapore, and USA as well as with leading industries and companies in the Philippines, foremost is Texas Instruments, Inc.

Located in the heart of the City, the UNIVERSITY OF BAGUIO is within reachable distance from the market, the Baguio Cathedral, restaurants, hotels, shopping malls, bookstores, and parks.

INSTITUTIONAL OBJECTIVES

1. To provide a moral and intellectual training in a Christian atmosphere that promotes the internalization of values founded on divine and human rights, on upright living and on the ultimate destiny of man;
2.To promote intellectual development that enhances the positive application of the student's abilities, capabilities, knowledge, skills, talents and potentialities in response to the needs of the society;
3.To make itself a dynamic and accessible instrument in the training of individuals in the promotion of equality of opportunity, social awareness and social justice;
4.To educate individuals to be deeply responsible and accountable for their decisions and actions;
5.To develop pride in being a Filipino;
6.To provide programs and activities that promote, develop and enhance health and fitness; and
7.To develop awareness and concern for the environment.
