University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir

University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir was established in 1974 at Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. The University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir is a multi-campus and multi-discipline university. It consists the Main Campus, based at Muzaffarabad, and four University Colleges. The Main Campus is a spectral combination of Basic Sciences and Humanities.
The Science group includes Department of Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology, Computer Sciences and Information Technology and the Institute of Geology while Kashmir Institute of Economics, Department of English, Law and Art and Design make up the Humanities group.
Also located at Muzaffarabad is Kashmir Information Resource Center. The Constituent Colleges are located at District Headquarters. These colleges, in contrast to the Main Campus, specialize in particular fields of studies. For instance, the University College of Agriculture Rawalakot offers degrees in Agriculture, the University College Kotli offers specialization in the discipline of Administrative Sciences consisting of The University College Mirpur is dedicated to Engineering and Technology and consists of their respective specializations like Electrical Engineering, beside it has Information Technology and Computer Sciences Departments, which offer M.C.S and B.C.S courses.
The Department of Information Technology and Computer Sciences at Mirpur also offers Master's in Information Technology programme. In addition to Main Campus and Constituent Colleges, at Mirpur there is the Faculty of Home Economics. The University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir is making a steady headway both in administrative as well as academic domains. New buildings equipped with modern facilities are being fast constructed and new research programmes have been launched.
