Universiti Teknologi Malaysia is a public university in Malaysia and is widely known with the abbreviation UTM. The main campus is in Skudai, which is the first university located in the state of Johor. It has an area of 12.22 km², whereas the branch campus in Kuala Lumpur has an area of 0.18 km². The university is known for its engineering courses. The university is also known for its atrocious security officers. It boasts of a equestrian centre and a deer farm.

The university was originally an institute known as Institut Teknologi Kebangsaan (ITK) until in 1st April 1975 when it was changed to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. However, the institute was given university status 3 years earlier on the 14th March 1972.

The main campus in Skudai is ideally located almost centrally between the city of Johor Bahru and the Sultan Ismail Airport, Senai. Daily flights are available from the capital city, Kuala Lumpur.
